F

Faux Wood - Perfect for humid rooms, this is a engineered material that has the appearance of wood.  Usually made of composite or polymer materials.

Flush Mount - Used for interior mounts, this is when the headrail is completely flush with the mounting surface.

Free-Hanging - Commonly seen in vertical blinds, the fabric vanes have weights sewn into the bottom.

G

Groover - An option for vertical blinds, this PVC slat is used to slide the fabric vane into; providing insulation, privacy and a uniform appearance.

H

Headrail - Usually metal, this is the hardware at the top of the blind or shade where mechanical devices such as the track are located.  It is common to opt for more than one blind on a single head rail.

Height - The measurement of the blind or shade from top to bottom (vertically).

Hold-Down Brackets - Brackets used on the bottom rail of blinds and shades.  Recommended for window coverings in doorways to keep them in place.

Honeycomb Shades - Refer to Cellular Shades

Horizontal Blinds - Usually made from wood, aluminum or faux wood these are blinds that have horizontal slats.

Inside Mount - Mounting a window blind or shade on the inside of an opening, usually inside a window frame.
